THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

I am 21 and a student like most of you…since childhood I was asked to study all the time by my family.… my grandma often quoted this “padhoge likhoge banoge nawab kheloge koodoge banoge kharab!!!”  When we are kids  our parents tell us that these are the foundation years so study hard else you'll be left behind your classmates…..that feeling of being left behind motivated us and we studied harder and harder….Personally I was  really good at drawing and won a number of accolades but had to leave it because of the pressure of studies rather I would say parental pressure as it could hamper my position in class. Then a few more years of study we finally reach CLASS 10th…boards boards boards….. every second person horrifies us with the idea of board exams…everyone keeps telling us to study as it is the career defining year… after the boards are over we feel chalo bahut hui padhai but then again a sword is hanging on our neck...11th n 12th are crucial years as they help us get admission in good colleges. People say once you get through a good college, life becomes easy ,for this good college life we study yet again….but as soon as we reach college we realize all that was said was crap, because if we don't study in college and do not maintain a good CGPA we won't get placed and hence remain unemployed...even when employed we are in a continuous rat race  where everybody wants to push us back, we remain under a constant fear of getting kicked out……soooooo my question is when does life get easy?????
Indian universities are generally not listed on the global education rankings list and if they do, they appear at very lower positions. Extra-curricular activities matter and maximum Indian students don't pursue any of them because of the pressure of studies created by this vicious system. The fear of scoring low in exams is created by our parents ,due to which we stick to our studies and ignore our interests. Parents should realize there is much more than grades and many professions than they think (Doctors, Engineers ,Chartered Accountants ,Lawyers).
Why cant our parents accept us as Choreographers, Photographers, models, shoe designers, make-up artists .

I don't intend to lessen the impact of education because I too believe that education and knowledge stay with us forever and help us attain heights in our life.
But is it the only way to climb the ladder of success??? Co-curricular is very important for overall development of any individual and therefore they should also be given value  and  attention.
Parents should try and help their children to acquire skills and expertise in the fields they have interest in, be it an academic or a non academic background.

Also the system of education in India like in some top notch universities especially Delhi University has not only created cut throat competition but also has led to suicidal circumstances for students. Colleges are coming up with cut off lists with 98 to 100 %. Isn't this unfair? Does education have this much value only? What should be a student's aim today? To score 100 percent? It is high time that we realize that education is about knowledge and not only about degrees.

It is not success we should run after but instead our goal should be to achieve the best of our capabilities and BE KNOWLEDGEABLE.

As the famous hindi dialogue says :

"Success ke peeche mat bhago , kaabil bano, success toh jhak maarke aaygi"

THE SELFIE AND I

 Helllloooooo people..

This time I am gonna talk about my favourite pass time... n that's none other than taking  selfies... so how many of you  indulge yourself in this never so tiring job???
I guess all of us have clicked at least one selfie  and those who aren’t aware of what i am  talking about ... let me make it clear to you!

A Selfie is a photograph whose quality is often directly proportionate to the length of the photographer's arm .It is the lovingly crafted image of the I.

The first selfie I ever took was in SCHOOL TIME. It was way before the word selfie even existed. There is a pleasurable and impulsive quality about selfies. It can reflect an intimate yet idealized image of one's self. I would never say there should be an age limit for selfies. I love the idea that people of any age, can take a photo of themselves to document a fun or special moment in their lives

Perhaps this is one of the reasons for the selfie's rise in popularity. And of course, there are no limits to the photos you can take in order to achieve the perfect image. No film is wasted like in the old days and bad shots can be deleted just as quickly as they were taken. Once the perfect shot is achieved,  You have a flawless, flattering image to share with the world.

SELFIE  was selected as the word of 2013 by OXFORD DICTIONARIES on Nov 18,2013.
I am a huge victim  of the selfie syndrome.. but I guess it's a sign of a happy state of mind..it does get addictive but yes you tend to love yourself even more....
When the word 'SELFIE' became a trend , a song was released by American DJ duo in order to take advantage of this popular word and its lyrics goes like ' but first, let me take a selfie"

On the negative side, research shows that the trend of taking pictures of oneself could cause narcissism  ,addiction ,mental illness and even suicide. When you are not able to take the perfect selfie you end up taking a number of pictures of yourself..you become so obsessed. While gadgets and social media cause addiction and other dangers, people are in extreme denial about the level of threat these types of communications pose, especially to impressionable teens. Taking selfies can be detrimental to a person’s mental health and that indulging in them is indicative of narcissism, low self esteem, attention seeking behaviour and self-indulgence.

There is this famous example of 'DANNY BOWMAN' all over the internet , he became so obsessed with trying to take the “right” selfie that he ended up shooting about 200 pictures a day while trying desperately to capture the perfect image of himself. When Bowman failed to take what he perceived to be the perfect selfie, he attempted suicide by taking an overdose of drugs. Bowman’s parents recount how Bowman would spend many hours in his room taking selfies until his addiction culminated in not only a drastic weight loss, but also a terrifying suicide attempt. While Bowman’s case may sound unique and extreme, experts in psychology as well as medical doctors say this problem is far more widespread than is generally understood.

However, it has been proven by multiple studies that interacting with other types of social media is definitively linked to narcissism, depression, low self esteem, addiction and a host of other negative effect. For example, Facebook use has been linked to depression while Twitter use has been linked to low self esteem and narcissism.
Just like everything, selfies have negative as well as positive effects... I am not trying to pass any judgement but yes  don’t just take selfies to upload them on social media.. they are not just meant for public display but much more.. take selfies out of love and fun not out of competition.....

A SELFIE A DAY KEEPS YOU HAPPY AND GAY!!!!!

LOG KYA KAHENGE

Hey friends, I am back here again with my third post and this time the thought is very interesting. As you can well read above the topic, it might sound funny to most but this is the most commonly used phrase in our society. So yes our society, The Great Indian Society is a major setback for most of us. Since childhood I have been restricted to lot many things because my family was always bothered by what others would think about me. They never gave importance to what I feel, what I think and what I want.

I suppose everyone of us would have faced "log kya kahenge" atleast once in our lives . If I talk about myself then I would describe myself as a very outgoing and outspoken sort of a person, so it has happened a zillion times with me. In our society it is not acceptable for a girl to be very friendly with  guys and if she is then she is considered to be loose or maybe  a slut to be more frank. I too have a bunch of friends(all boys) in my college and yes I know people do percieve me in a negative manner. WHY ???? Can't a girl and a guy be just friends? A girl knowing or hanging around alone with guys simply does not make her characterless.

No matter how modern our society has become, but the mindset is still the same. Modernization does not come with clothes but with modern thoughts. The ultimate aim should be to modernize our outlook rather than the way we look. Moreover, all the parents expect their children to either become doctors or engineers. Indians do not consider any other profession equally respectable. If a girl wishes to enter the film industry then people look at her with bad eyes and tend to bad mouth about her."She must be involved with her co-stars", "she must have gone through casting couch" etc etc....these are the thoughts that strike people's minds. Parents bombard a lot of questions...Shaadi kaise hogi?... Relatives ko kya bolenge?..and to convince them is like climbing the Mount Everest. The society doesn’t want girls to enter the corporate sector as the timings are variant and suit only the male counterparts.

It is we who constitute the “LOG” so if we stop thinking about what others think, the change will be visible.

The aim of this post is not to demean the society of which we are a part but to ask everyone to not just modernise the way they look but also the way they think.

LOG KYA KAHENGE has killed many more dreams than anything else in this world. Now the choice is yours!

7 CARDINAL RULES FOR A HAPPY LIFE

1. MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR PAST :- DONT LET YOUR PAST CONSUME TOO MUCH OF YOUR PRESENT.
FORGIVE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HURT YOU IN THE PAST. FORGIVENESS DOES NOT CHANGE YOUR PAST BUT ENLARGES YOUR FUTURE..
FORGIVENESS UNLOCKS YOUR BLESSINGS ..DO IT ..YOU'RE WORTH IT...FORGET THE PAST AND REMEMBER THE LESSON.

2.WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS:- ITS A VERY FAMOUS SAYING IN HINDI" LOG KYA SOCHENGE ..AGAR WO BHI HUM SOCHENGE TOH FIR LOG KYA SOCHENGE .." LOG KYA KAHENGE HAS KILLED MANY MORE DREAMS THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD SO JUST FOCUS ON YOUR WORK AND LET PEOPLE DO THE TALKING...THE WORLD'S GOING TO JUDGE YOU NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO ,SO LIVE LIFE THE WAY YOU WANT TO.

3.TIME HEALS ALMOST EVERYTHING...GIVE IT TIME :- LIFE IS LIKE A ROLLER-COASTER RIDE IT ALWAYS DOESN'T GO HIGH ..YOU OUGHT TO EXPERIENCE SOME LOWS AS WELL..THERE IS FAMOUS SONG BY PASSENGER WHICH PERFECTLY DESCRIBES THIS SITUATION "ONLY KNOW YOU'VE BEEN HIGH WHEN YOU'RE FEELING LOW" SO IT ISN'T REALLY AN END BUT SURELY A NEW BEGINNING ..SO NEVER TO PANIC AND ACT AS AN ANTI DEPRESSANT NOT ONLY IN YOUR LIFE BUT ALSO FOR THE MATES AROUND YOU.

4. NO ONE IS INCHARGE OF YOUR HAPPINESS EXCEPT YOU :- HAPPINESS STARTS WITH YOU, NOT WITH YOUR RELATIONSHIPS, NOT WITH YOUR JOB,NOT WITH YOUR MONEY ,BUT WITH YOU......SEARCH HAPPINESS IN YOURSELF... AT THE END OF THE DAY ,YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF....SO DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY..BECAUSE INNER HAPPINESS IS THE KEY TO A BLISSFUL LIFE.

5.DON'T COMPARE YOUR LIFE TO OTHERS :- EVERYONE HAS GOT THEIR OWN SHARE OF PROBLEMS SO DON'T JUDGE THEM UNLESS YOU ENTER THEIR SHOES. GIRLS HAVE A HABIT OF COMPARING THEMSELVES WITH THEIR PEERS IN TERMS OF WEIGHT,HEIGHT,DRESSING SENSE ,CAREER AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON ...AND SOMETIMES IT LEADS TO INFERIORITY COMPLEX OR MAYBE EVEN DEPRESSION IN SEVERE CASES ....SO STAY HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU ARE...BECAUSE THERE'S NO ONE BETTER.

6.STOP THINKING TOO MUCH :-ITS ALRIGHT NOT TO KNOW ALL THE ANSWERS ...THEY'LL COME TO YOU WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT THEM.
SOMETIMES THINKING TOO MUCH INCLINES YOU TOWARDS THE NEGATIVES AND YOU TEND TO OVERLOOK THE GOOD THINGS THAT COME YOUR WAY. LAWS OF ATTRACTION..UMMM MUST BE SOUNDING SOME NEWTON LAWS OF PHYSICS BUT IT IS BASICALLY THE NAME GIVEN TO THE BELIEF THAT "LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE"
SO IF U THINK GOOD THEN AUTOMATICALLY GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO YOU AND VICE-VERSA .
THE BEST DECISIONS ARE TAKEN WITH CALM AND PEACEFUL MIND.... SO JUST RELAX AND LET THINGS FALL INTO PLACE.

7.SMILE :-YOU DON'T OWN ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD
SMILE BECAUSE IT NEVER HURTS.. HASTE HASTE KATT JAAYE RASTE ZINDAGI YUN HI CHALTI RAHE..KEEP SMILING AND THE WORLD WILL SMILE AT YOU ...MANY PEOPLE IN THIS RAT-RACE HAVE FORGOTTEN 'HOW TO SMILE'....THEY ARE NEVER HAPPY AND CONTENT WITH WHAT THEY HAVE...WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE HAPPY WITH WHAT WE POSSESS...LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO LIVE...AND YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...SO CARE LESS,SMILE MORE.

P.S. ITS JUST A REMINDER AND I AM NOT TRYING TO TEACH YOU ANYTHING. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL SEE IT AS A JOURNEY NOT A MISSION TO BE ACCOMPLISHED.
